Cool pic, but I was under the impression that Illidan was the only Demon Hunter. Hence why he was locked up in Warcraft 3, also even if he wasn't the only one I doubt blindness is a prerequisite.
I'm not fully aware of Demon Hunter lore but many Kaldorei followed Illidan's footsteps to becoming Demon Hunters not so long after he did, and he personally trained them himself; as his eyes were burned out with fel fires by Sargeras, Illidan came up with the rituals to blind the trainee Demon Hunters so they would also gain 'spectral sight' like he has, so they are able to detect demons with ease. They also, usually, fashioned glaives to fight the demons with as Illidan did himself.
When he went to Outlands he created the Illidari that followed in his footsteps too, creating hundred(s) of demon hunters that were high elves.
Becoming a DH usually entails also destroying a demon and taking it into their own body to use its powers against the demons - fighting fire with fire. A DH requires being blinded.
